Buju Banton Moved to Mississippi Prison

Grammy winning reggae artist Buju Banton is about to be transferred from the Pinellas County Jail in Florida to The Adams County Prison in Natchez, Mississippi. US officials have claimed that the reason for his move is due to a current shortage of bed to accommodate the entertainer.

"The judge recommended that he serve his time in Florida, but there were no beds in Miami, and the ultimate decision was made by the Bureau of Prisons. We are hopeful that when a bed opens up down here (in Florida) that we can get him transferred so that it is easier on his family and us to see him," said Buju's lawyer David Markus.

The Adams County Prison where Buju is heading is owned and operated by private firm CCA. It houses approximately 75,000 offenders and detainees in more than 60 facilities, with a total bed capacity of more than 80,000.
