Marcia Griffiths and Queen Omega are currently two of the top reigning queens of reggae!
Marcia, one of the original I –Three’s, vocalists with the great Bob Marley, is still keeping the strong spirit of Bob Marley and the Wailers fresh and alive. The two of these gifted singers together, Marcia Griffiths and Queen Omega make for a long show of beautiful female energy.
Marcia Griffiths is scheduled to perform on Reggae in the Desert in Las Vegas June 12th, they both perform on the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival June 20th and Marcia is also on the Monterey Bay Reggaefest July 31st.
May 15th Marcia attended a huge awards ceremony in Jamaica where she received an award for the greatest achievements in the music industry. Marcia is consistently very busy doing recording sessions, shows and tours in the Caribbean and beyond. She is always on the road.
May 12th she was featured on a show in Jamaica for the European leaders and prime ministers. After this western U.S. tour, she is scheduled to tour Africa and Europe with Tanya Stevens and Etana. Marcia is regularly on the Rotterdam festival and many other festivals in Europe. On the late annual U.S. Sunsplash Tour with Tony Johnson, Marcia used to be on the tour every year.
Marcia’s Love is Automatic single with Busy Signal is currently number one on the England and European charts. Another of her big current songs that gets a lot of radio airplay is What Goes Up, Must Come Down which is a combination with her and Queen Ifrica. She also has out a single called A Beer and a Girl, which is a song about the memories of life in Jamaica in the older days. She has another current hit called There is a time for Wars, which is a combination with Beres Hammond. Marcia is also currently recording a track for the new Third World album. Marcia is a busy woman.
On the near horizon, Marcia Griffiths has a new double CD scheduled for release soon, this month or next month, in May or June, 2010. This CD is called, Marcia and Friends. The CD features combinations with singers such as Beres Hammond, Sanchez, Bunny Rugs, Daville, Freddie McGregor, Toots Hibbert, Barrington Levy, Diana King, Richie Stevens, Etana, Bob Andy and John Holt, amongst others. For DJ’s on Marcia and Friends, there are combinations with Gentleman, Damian Marley, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer and U Roy.
The other younger featured artist on this tour package is Queen Omega, from Trinidad.Queen Omega is also working hard, making her mark on the international music scene. In 2008 she did fifteen festivals in North America from California to Toronto, including The Monterey Bay Reggae fest in Monterey, CA, Reggae Risings and Earthdance in Humboldt County, CA. Last year, in 2009 she headlined the Northwest World Music festival in Eugene OR and she also did Earthdance for a second year in a row in southern Humboldt county, CA, as well as numerous festivals on the east coast including performances in Providence, RI and in Vermont at the Vermont Reggae festival. She toured Brazil in April 2009, and in France in early June 2009.
In Trinidad, Queen Omega’s musical effort for 2010 is shaping up well as she is currently producing and recording for several U.S. and international Reggae producers.
In the U. S., she has joined forces with the hot and popular California Reggae artist, Jah Sun on a combination track called Mediation, and they also filmed the accompanying Mediation music video. Mediation is on the charts in Jamaica and their the music video was picked up on TV Jamaican Reggae Shows, featured #3 on the Wicked Bubblers on Hype TV and the European Reggae market picked up the video online for the top Reggae sites.
Queen Omega recently recorded Take Control on the Zion Roots Music, an affiliate of CRS Music Label out of Barbados for their compilation CD, Blessed. Take Control was produced by Family Music out of Germany.
Staying in high demand in France, the producer, IkaRoots Muzik and the Babyclone Band released two compilation CDs in 2010 featuring Queen Omega’s lead tracks Traveling on the Datta Riddim and Last Days on the Brighter Day Riddim. Queen Omega is a roots reggae artist with a conscious message. She is a talented vocalist who knows music inside out, having worked as an artist since she was young. She has out five CD’s. She performs all over the world. Queen Omega is one of the stronger young upcoming female artists in the reggae genre.
