What does Ziggy Marley has in common with Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and Michael Jackson? Well, they’ve all recorded albums at the world’s most awarded studio complex Ocean Way Recording in Hollywood. Recordings made at Ocean Way have accumulatively sold in excess of 1 Billion worldwide.
Ziggy is back in the studio with legendary producer Dan Was recording his new album which is expected to be released this summer on the Tuff Gong Worldwide label. Joining Ziggy in the renowned Bill Putnam-designed Studio B are drummer Carlton "Santa" Davis (Jimmy Cliff, Burning Spear), percussionist Rock M. Deadrick (Ben Harper, Tracy Chapman), visitor / rap artist Heavy D., keyboardist James Poyser (The Roots) and bassist Darryl Jones (Rolling Stones, Miles Davis, Sting).
Ziggy Marley, eldest son of the great Bob Marley, spent time as a child in the recording studio with his father, who taught him drums and guitar, and recorded "Children Playing In the Streets" in 1979. He has carried on the family spirit with his Melody Makers -- selling millions of albums and winning Grammy awards for "Conscious Party" (1988), "One Bright Day" (1989), "Fallen is Babylon" (1997), "Love is My Religion" (2006), and "Family Time" (2009).
This has started out as a rather superb year for Ziggy Marley whose baby boy was born on January 26th. He also has a new highly anticipated comic book called “Marijuanaman” which is expected to hit book shelves as early as April.
