Dubtonic Kru to Represent Jamaica in the Global Battle of the Bands

Reggae band Dubtonic Kru has proved their worth once more by  outperforming nine other Jamaican bands to win the local leg of the Global Battle of the Bands (GBoB) and booking their space as the official band to represent Jamaica in the competition.

Dubtonic Kru will face off with other bands from across the globe at the Global Battle of the Bands (GBoB) at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on February 26, 2011. The winning band will walk away with a cash prize of $US100,000, worldwide promotion and the bragging rights that comes with it.

Dubtonic Kru is known for electrifying their fans wherever they play. They have toured the world both solo and with other big names in Reggae music. The band has just recently completed a successful tour of the United States of America (USA). Members of the band are; Jubba who plays the drums, bassist Stone, guitarist Jallanzo, keyboardist Luke and vocalist kamau. Their signature sound  is heavy drum and bass above psychedelic guitars and keyboard dub-echoing into separate dimensions.

We aren't sure if Dubtonic Kru is the only band who represents Reggae music or is likely to play the genre at the competition, however the fact that they represent the home of Reggae music, Jamaica makes them our favorite band in the Global Battle of the Bands (GBoB). With that said, we wish Dubtonic Kru the best in the competition.

  1. Other national bands may come to the Finals playing reggae, but Dubtonic is the real deal.
